How Long Does It Take to Recover From Rhinoplasty?

Are you preparing to go under the surgical lights for rhinoplasty? If you are, then you need to know that you will need ample time after the procedure for complete healing before you can turn to your daily activities. You need to know that rhinoplasty is a cosmetic surgery that changes the shape and size of your nose, in ways to ensure it balances with other facial features.

When it comes to the recovery, this can take about 6-12 months, and sometimes it’s a longer period before you see the results. During the initial consultation of your Atlanta rhinoplasty, several surgeons also offer computer imaging, which helps you to see a preview of what your nose may look like post surgery.

Most patients have concerns and questions regarding the recovery phase of their procedure, and they wish to learn about how long it will take them to see some results. During the healing process, many people have concerns because it’s difficult to assess what your nose will look like upon complete healing. Rest assured that the way your nose appears after a week of the surgery is not the final look it will have upon final healing.

Post Surgical Swelling is Normal

After your rhinoplasty surgery, swelling is normal and it can last for even about a year, all depending on the amount of work by the surgeon. Although the swelling at the nose tip post the Crispin Plastic Surgery rhinoplasty may take a long time to fade away completely, about 90% of the swelling often fades away in 4-8 weeks.
As the swelling resolves, it is common that the nose will straighten out but at this point, the best option you have is to consult your surgeon and stay in contact at all times to express your concerns.

The First Few Days

Post surgery, surgeons will place your nose in a splint and bandage it properly. Typically, they remove the splints after 5-6 days of the surgery. Several patients may also return to their normal work routine during this time. At this point, you will notice an improvement in the appearance and shape of your nose, although the swelling and the bruising will remain. Within a few days of the surgery, most patients will be able to return to their work, go out in public, do light activity, and carry on with their lifestyle.
For quicker recovery, you can also follow some tips at home, including taking vitamin C supplements, drinking pineapple, and sleeping with your head on a high level (elevated) and within the first few days, apply cold compresses. Doing so should also help to reduce the swelling.

Some Weeks Post Surgery

A few weeks after the healing, you will be able to resume your routine. However, you need to take it easy and avoid certain hectic sports. However, you can resume light exercises like walking. For the swelling to subside, you need to choose highly skilled surgeons and abstain from some foods as well. However, for the best results, make sure you choose a surgeon, certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons.

Why is the Recovery Phase Lengthy?

As mentioned above, the healing phase of rhinoplasty is lengthy. However, most patients wonder why this is actually so and why does this procedure take such a long time? Can patients do something to ensure the recovery period shortens? The answer here depends on how well your body can heal. A major reason for a lengthy recovery is the fact that the nose is quite sensitive and has more nerve density when compared to other parts of the body. Since we constantly breathe, without the nose taking a break, this obviously means it also requires lots of blood flow.
As you opt for the rhinoplasty surgery, you will experience swelling that will last to about 12 months. For most patients, this is quite frustrating as they wish for their results to be immediate rather than slow. However, since it’s an intricate surgery, it will require an attentive and detailed surgery for patients to achieve the best results.

Is Rhinoplasty Worth It?

Although rhinoplasty can take a long time for full recovery, most patients wonder whether there’s any way to shorten the recovery period. Actually, it all depends on how well your body would actually heal. In the end, you should know that the surgery is worth it all if you have appearance, goals or have reasons to opt for the surgery. Although it takes a long, in the end, the results are always astonishing and the transformations are worth it.
You need to trust your surgeon’s expertise because in the first place that’s precisely why you chose him or her. Take your time to communicate your concerns to the surgeon because it’s their job to guide and advise you through the process.
